SECRETS of my REALM
I really don’t think life is about the I-could-have-beens. Life is only about the I-tried-to-do. I don’t mind the failure but I can’t imagine that I’d forgive myself if I didn’t try.” - Nikki Giovanni, African-American Poet
I’ve been incubating a cultural virus from the blogoshpere for two months now and it’s giving me a terrible itch I have to do something about it. Yes, a virus! It’s called “meme” (pron. meem). Richard Dawkins, coined the term “meme,” defined it as:
…a unit of cultural transmission, or a unit of imitation… Just like genes propagating themselves by leaping from brain to brain via a process, called imitation.
Meme travels through the blogosphere, partly from brain to brain as one has to answer them, but technically, from page to page, leaving a trail that can be monitored through what they call the linking system.
What is its effect then? The originator of the meme will boost his/her ranking through the Technorati or any other system which considers “backlinking”! That is the principal effect of this virus. Popularity, more visitors, economic satisfaction perhaps?! (more visitors=more pubblicity impressions). Am I right?
Memes can be a key in the evolution of culture. But if memes diffuses uncontrollably, our thoughts will just become a “copy-paste-product” than original creations. The culture of the blogosphere will cease to advance and will only self-replicate. If this will happen, the blogosphere will just become a reproduction, with selfish end for popularity system.
I am still new in the blogosphere, my observation about the dynamics of this meme virus is open for critical thinking. I said it’s giving me a terrible itch, because its symptoms manifest only to one thing: to talk about yourself!
I am not keen about interviewing myself per se. I can talk about personal experiences like what I’ve observed and learned just like what my blog is all about.
So, what am going to do with this virus? I am going to group them together, make an ultimate vaccine shot by replying once and for all! I am not going to replicate each questions like an interview portion. I will answer them in my own way like what I did with the second meme I received.
Here are some secrets of my realm.
Events and persons connected to me. Do you know why?

Ross ( i never remember if it is one or 2 eses, so just wack me in the back of the head and remind me),
Although I have been unable to answer your, Vincent’s, and thinking blogger’s meme, it made me think: What up with this? I think the memes should be worth something, it just makes it difficult to not have one main body of awards and hard to answer everyone and post. People will read you for the quality of your content, so do not worry if you can’t answer it. BTW, the Lawrence quote, just spoke to me!!

I wasn’t aware that behind that video, my dark skeleton will be unlocked by your “private eyes”!
I’m sorry for corrupting your “innocent minds” - rated +18 eh!
But it’s ok…I don’t mind ..that’s why Secrets of my Realm eh!
Ciao Des,
Thank you! I hope you were able to solve my riddle without watching the “hidden video” which some of my blogger friends managed to dig up without any intention!
Cheers!
C5,
nakita mo din ba?
tatlumponglibong isda,
thank you for the link. I’ll try to join his campaign against political and social violence.
Cheers!
I don’t know, I hate memes too. It disrupts the natural flow of my blog, but it gives a variation though. But out of charity and camaraderie, I sincerely answered them. I hate ignoring bloggers because I myself am very irked when someone ignores me as if I’m from another planet of some sort. But I always end up at the dead end. My last meme was only replied by 1 blogger out of 8. maybe they have the same reason as mine. Good for them.
my 2 “Viral” tags where even senseless. I just put them because I was tagged unknowingly. Who cares if my technorati is gaining authority if the content of my blog is not that sensible naman diba?
I appreciate your stand kapatid. Tough thing you did there.
Pax Et Bonum
Blue,
sometimes it is hard to go against the current.
It is hard to stand by what you think is right.
You have to believe in your blog. If you are doing it to satisfy your readers, time will come you are not going to please everyone.
I am not after technoratic ranks or whatever…
I write because I enjoy it. If someone will read my post, link me, favor me in some blog awards or feeds, etc …I feel elated and may they enjoy Life more.
Life is beautiful Blue, enjoy it! …kahit walang papansin sa tag mo
alam mo tama ka. lately I am being swayed by these memes to go with the flow.
You inspired me kapatid. I have to go back on track. I write not because of people (well secondary purpose because of my self-proclaimed apostolate) but because of the main reason like yours–> my passion to write.
Blue,
Am I an angel!? Oh Bro! I hope not the fallen one!
So you have this self-proclaimed apostolate…be the light!
Good luck and thanks for passing again
MIna,
pag binaklas ko ang pakpak ko, it would mean my death
You have an unfamiliar name, wishing I would have the chance to know the person behind it.
thank you for passing by.
Uyyy angel daw!
