Can you see those special characters (   , ’) on my blog??  Well, I still don’t know how on earth they landed on every post I have here. It all happened after I upgraded to wordpress 2.2!  I’ve been asking support from BlueHost. Twenty hours has passed and still, no word from them! Aghh! Patience, patience…Two hours ago, I received an email from their support center, asking me to provide them the last 4 digits of my credit card I used to create my account.  How would I know if it’s a legitimate request? What I couldn’t understand is, why do they have to ask for my credit card when I have given them my password for my BlueHost’s control panel?? I wrote them again regarding this matter, to verify if it’s a valid request … BlueHost - “mum”, “sleeping”???

Let’s be careful about giving out informations especially regarding our credit cards. There are a lot of phishing  attempts going around the net. I repeat, attention!!!

Luckily, GoogleBot  came in to my rescue giving me some important links about upgrading wordpress. I don’t know him personally but he was kind enough to give me a hand. Thank you GoogleBot!

I’m still working on this ”enigma” by browsing different forums with similar problem, disactivating my plugins, etc

Please bear with me…just ignore those               , okay?

 Since I’m still waiting for my web host’s support to my predicament and I’m supporting  the  trouble of editing all my posts by deleting those special characters…I’m sharing some>>>>

    I can related to the weird characters appearing in blog after updating to newer WordPress… In my case, it was several months ago… and not for 2.2… It was for 2.0, I recall. Strange characters started appearing in previous comments… and only comments. Posts/pages weren’t affected. Pain in the ass… some of them, I had to manually retype the comments to get rid of the strange characters. Once in a while, I still see remnants of that strange update bug.

    those “B****rds are just phishing. I remember a hoax flickr email which I received and was asking for my yahoo password. I did not sign up because it was too risky. after a month or so, flickr released an official statement saying that the emails circulating are phishers. when i opened the email again, the hoax web add is “flicker” instead of “flickr” without the e. the same thing happened with my bank account. they were asking for my account number and pin. arrrggghhh.

    Thanks sa suggestion. Regarding phishing, I’m aware of it as I’ve been receiving a lot of emails pretending they are from yahoo, ebay, paypal, bancoposte, etc asking me to resend my info as there is a problem with my account.

    So, before giving out, I would first contact the aforementioned institutions for any verifications and give them the full header’s content of the email so they could trace it…

    Their reply: they didn’t send it!
